Our client is a household-name chilled foods company and a leading player in its category, supplying both brand and own-label products to the Grocery Multiples, Convenience and Foodservice trade channels. The role
Reporting to the Retail Sales Director, we are now looking for a Head of Category Management to lead the Category team for a 12-month period. You will be responsible for providing leadership to the team who will be identifying and realising opportunities to step-change the commercial delivery of our client’s branded and Own Label portfolio.
Using category, price, promotions and trade investment as key levers, you will coach and develop managers in the team, to evolve the commercial playbook, using key consumer metrics to maximise the growth and profitability, whilst creating partnership ways of working from a category perspective.
A key leader within the commercial team, you will support the Retail Sales Director to ensure the overall engagement and success of the whole Commercial team, and also support the Commercial Director with the insights to help shape their Commercial Strategy.
The position is office based, with the flexibility to work from home two to three days per week.
About you
You are well-trained and structured, with experience of working in blue chip, as well as medium-sized more entrepreneurial style food businesses. You possess an expert understanding of category data, and the creativity to turn this data into clear and concise win/wins for our customers and the company.
You have leadership skills, and the ability to act more widely than just your direct reports. You possess high strategic ability with a passion for consumer, shopper, customer, competitor and marketplace insight.
Possessing a strong business acumen, you have a “commercial first” mind-set.
You are currently an interim Head of Category or a Category Controller, finishing an FTC shortly and looking for your next challenge. Or your role has recently been made redundant and you would consider a 12-month contract, starting in January 2025.
You are highly personable, ambitious, commercially intelligent, a supportive coach, structured and demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to managing change and ambiguity.
